Due to the expression "strategic goods," if you are not familiar with this area, you may only think of items directly used to make weapons.

However, strategic goods apply to a much wider range of materials and components.

And if it seems that the item will be used to make weapons, you must obtain what is called a situational permit.

Therefore, if you are dealing with items classified under the strategic goods requirement, you should first check the specifications of the goods designated as strategic goods and compare them with the specifications of the items you handle.

If it is difficult to determine directly, it is advisable to undergo a professional assessment.

Even if it is determined not to be a strategic good, you need to review whether the overseas buyer of the item might divert it to the manufacture of strategic goods and obtain a situational permit if necessary.

If there is no such possibility, you must issue a self-assessment certificate of non-applicability of dual-use, situational permit through the strategic goods management system and provide it to the customs office before export declaration.

In general, companies should be well aware of the detailed specifications of the products they handle and should identify and prepare for sales hurdles in advance.

As soon as you realize that an item falls under the strategic goods category, if you have the capability to determine it yourself, you should conduct a self-assessment, and if not, it is advisable to request a professional assessment in advance to ensure accuracy.
