For international students to clear household goods, they must declare the details of the items to customs and pay customs duties.

Customs Clearance Procedure

Place goods at the entry point for household goods (bonded area).

Prepare customs clearance requirements, recommended tariff rates, and recommended duty exemptions/reductions.

Fill out the import declaration form and submit it to the customs clearance system. ==> You can entrust this to a customs broker.

Customs processes the declaration form.

Pay customs duties or be exempt from them in accordance with regulations such as the Customs Act.

Customs Clearance Benefits

When a Korean national establishes residence abroad and lives there for 1 year (or 6 months if accompanied by family) or more before returning to Korea, customs duties are exempted for used household goods.

The scope of duty exemption is applied differently, considering the mover's occupation, reason for relocation, number of family members, etc.
