  • Mandatory Declaration: You must voluntarily declare these assets to customs upon arrival.

  • Important Note: Even if you were not required to declare funds when departing your home country, a declaration obligation arises upon entering Germany if the amount exceeds 10,000 EUR.

  • Medicines: A reasonable quantity required for personal use during the trip is permitted (generally up to a 3-month supply).

  • Medicines Containing Narcotics: For medication containing controlled substances (e.g., morphine), a doctor's diagnosis and prescription are required.

  • Restricted/Prohibited Food: The import of meat, meat products, dairy products, potatoes, and caviar is generally restricted or prohibited.

  • Other Prohibited Items: Illegal drugs, weapons/ammunition requiring permits, fireworks, publications violating the constitutional order, and counterfeit goods.



5. 💰 Procedures for Exceeding Duty-Free Limits and Exhibition Goods

  • Payment of Duties: Duties for goods exceeding the allowance must be paid on-site. Fees under 3 EUR are waived.

  • Late Payment: If payment is not made immediately, goods may be held. Payment must be completed within the designated period to retrieve items.

  • Exhibition Goods: When bringing items for trade fairs or exhibitions, you must possess an ATA Carnet (Admission Temporaire) and participation documents. You must declare these to customs to prove re-export intent and qualify for duty-free temporary admission.
