Excerpts from the Customs Service consultation casebook are provided.

- To perform repair work, a repair work approval (application) form must be submitted to the customs officer and approved, and upon completion of the repair work, a repair work completion report must be submitted to the customs officer for verification

must be obtained.

- The subjects of repair work approval are as follows.

1. Goods stored in a bonded area that are recognized as urgently needing repair due to damage or deterioration during transportation

2. For goods stored in a bonded area, if you intend to perform work such as opening, dividing, merging, country of origin marking, or other similar tasks for customs clearance

3. When it is necessary to perform similar tasks such as product inspection, sorting, or function supplementation to export intermediary trade goods or supply goods for sale at bonded stores

- The permissible scope of repair work is limited to the following cases, HSK 10-digit changes are not recognized as repair work. However, if the customs officer recognizes a risk of spoilage·deterioration during export or return, it may be exceptionally recognized.

1. Work necessary for the preservation of goods(such as preservation work to prevent spoilage, damage, etc.)

2. Modification work to improve the marketability of goods(such as packaging improvement, labeling, simple cutting, etc.)

3. Preparation work for shipment(such as sorting, classifying, changing containers, etc.)

4. Simple assembly work(such as simple setting, assembly of components with the characteristics of a finished product, etc.)

5. Other tasks similar to the above 4 items
