Excerpts from the guide of the Customs Service Consultation Casebook.

- To perform repair work, you must submit a Repair Work Approval (Application) to the customs officer and obtain approval, and upon completion of the repair work, you must submit a repair work completion report to the customs officer for confirmation

.

- The targets for repair work approval are as follows.

1. Items stored in the bonded area that are recognized as needing urgent repair due to damage or deterioration during transportation

2. Items stored in the bonded area for which customs clearance is required, such as opening, dividing, merging, origin marking, or other similar work

3. When similar work is required, such as product inspection, sorting, or function supplementation, to supply items for export or sale at a bonded store

- The permissible scope of repair work applies only to the following cases, HSK 10 unit changes are not recognized as repair work. However, if the customs officer recognizes a risk of spoilage·deterioration during the export or return process, it may be exceptionally recognized.

1. Work necessary for the preservation of items(such as preservation work to prevent spoilage, damage, etc.)

2. Modification work to improve the marketability of items(such as packaging improvement, labeling, simple cutting, etc.)

3. Preparation work for shipment(such as sorting, classifying, container change, etc.)

4. Simple assembly work(such as simple setting, assembly of components with the characteristics of a finished product, etc.)

5. Other work similar to the above 4 cases
